Elk Capture Video

by John on February 21, 2011

As promised, the following video shows some of the capture footage (from a mounted, unmanned camera) taken from the Quicksilver Air helicopter. In part of the video you can faintly see a pack of gray wolves below as the net-gunner points them out. This video shows the excellent flying it takes to successfully and safely capture a mature cow elk. The video puts you in the seat of the net-gunner as they pursue their quarry.

This capture footage was taken during Phase 1 of the Bitterroot Elk Study, which is scientifically examining the recent, substantial decline in the Bitterroot elk population.

Enjoy the video!

Original music by Robert Parr – Yellow Seahorse Records.
